Three South Texas Teams Win US Youth Soccer Region III Presidents Cup Titles

South Texas squads win regional crowns, earn berths at US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup Nationals

Three South Texas teams won championships last weekend at the 2012 US Youth Soccer Region III Presidents Cup in Greensboro, N.C., earning the right to represent South Texas and Region III in July at the US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup Nationals — one of the most prestigious youth soccer tournaments in the United States.

The three Region III Presidents Cup titles won by South Texas teams were more than the total from all but one of the other 11 states that comprise Region III, including North Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina. Only North Carolina managed to match South Texas’ three regional crowns, while Florida (two wins) was the only other state to win more than one age group.

Each of the three South Texas champions — Texas United Los Guerreros 97B, Houston Express 96G Navy and Texas United Westside 95B — will now compete against champions from the other three US Youth Soccer regions at July’s National Presidents Cup, July 11-15 in Sacramento, Calif. Complete information on National Presidents Cup — including links to results from other regional championships, schedules and more, can be found at usyouthsoccer.org.

Congratulations to each of these outstanding teams on their performances at Regionals, and good luck next month at Nationals!
